What we've been up to

Sorry we haven't posted in awhile!

We've been learning about matter again. We learened that volume is a fancy science word that means the amount of something and mass means how much something weighs. We learned that liquids change their shape to the container they are in, but solid do not.

This week we're studying Jamaica Louise James in our reading book. She lived in New York City. Jamaica loved to draw and paint everything. She had a big idea. She wanted to take her pictures and put her pictures in the subway for her grandma's birthday. We had lots of text-to-self connections for this story!

Before Thanksgiving we learned about the Inuit. They lived in very cold places. Sometimes they lived in igloos. We also talked about all the things we are thankful for...like all of you! We talked about Squanto and the Three Sisters. The Three Sisters are plants that all grew together. They were beans, corn, squash. The Native Americans planted a fish in the mound to help them grow. We also learned that Pilgrims ate bubble and squeak.
